Acetazolamide (DIAMOX 250 mg) 


Indications

1.Treat and relieve the symptoms of acute mountain sickness. (It is a condition caused by a travel to high altitudes that are 2,500 m above sea level or higher. Symptoms include headache, dizziness, insomnia, shortness of breath, tiredness. The symptoms usually occur at the first night and the body will gradually adjust itself in a few days.)

Contraindications and precautions

- Do not use in patients with chronic noncongestive angle-closure glaucoma.

- Do not use in patients with cirrhosis or marked liver disease or dysfunction.

- Do not use in patients with hyponatremia or hypokalemia.

- Do not use in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to sulfonamides or other sulfonamide derivatives.

- Do not use in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Acetazolamide or any component of the product.   Click to listen highlighted text! - Initiate 24 to 48 hours before ascent and continue for 48 hours or longer while at high altitudes for prophylaxis of acute mountain sickness.

  Adverse Reactions

- This medication may cause flushing, photosensitivity, severe atopic dermatitis, urticaria, severe hypersensitivity reaction, dyspnea, dizziness, headache.
